Discovery & Constraints

Feature names: Translated featured names must follow industry standards by comparing terminology with existing localized versions of spreadsheet software.
Speed: Reconcile the fast-paced nature of the video with the lengthy localized terms used in the field to ensure enough time to read each line.
Completeness: Verify that no content was lost during the localization process.

The subtitles are derived from the original YouTube transcript of the video, and typed under the respective line using a monotype font to ensure that length was respected.
The boundary set for line length is the same length as the original transcript’s equivalent line, plus or minus one five-letter word with respective punctuation. Exceptions are to be reduced to the minimum.
To maintain clarity, verb phrases and noun phrases are treated as complete words and splitting them in separate lines is avoided where space constraints permit, unless the same split was made in the original subtitles.
On-screen static text is translated via encrusted edits over the original video. Animated text is to be left alone until it turns static, to minimize post-production time.
A bilingual disclaimer was embedded the first five seconds of the video upload to minimize impact to the original creator and reduce risk of copyright claim.
