Discovery & Constraints
- Content type: Technical documentation
- Audience: Godot Developers (beginner–advanced)
- Primary constraint: Semantically similar terminology without standard industry localization
Terminology Focus
- Identified terms:
- Problem:
- Both terms refer to similar phenomena and tend to be mistaken for each other. The word “temblor” is commonly used to refer to both, and since they are usually left untranslated, users unfamiliar with the terms may have trouble knowing what to look for, leaving them unable to properly debug their projects.
- Action:
- Defined stable Spanish equivalents for both terms
- Ensured semantic distinction reflected the features that distinguish them
- Accessed Godot documentation through Weblate and identify every string containing either case word.
- Modified translated strings.
- Localized untranslated strings.
- Added localization terms to Weblate glossary.
- Performed a second-pass review to verify conistency.
- Collected artifacts for portfolio.
Decision Writing
- Key strings were selected before the translation stage started to contain both English and Spanish terms, in order to facilitate SEO and properly distinguish between them.
- Strings unrelated to the main article were also selected to carry both versions.
- Alignment of existing localized strings to create a consistent standard.
