Project: Technical Documentation Terminology Alignment
Product: Godot Engine Documentation
Language Pair: English → Spanish
Reviewer Role: Localization Contributor / Terminology Reviewer
Content Type: Developer Documentation
Scope: Cross-document terminology consistency
Locale: Neutral Technical Spanish
The goal of this localization was the creation of a consistent terminology to refer to the technical terms “jitter” and “stutter”, which are usually left untranslated in Spanish software documentation. As phenomena that is usually discussed in the context of electromagnetic frequencies, there isn’t a consistent interpretation in the common parlance, as different fields (acoustics, data transfer, music production) tend to rely on specialized jargon or metaphors that are not interchangeable. However, since jitter and stutter on Godot development are frame rate issues, the occasion presents a rare opportunity for a visual metaphor to adapt; an area in which Spanish has ample variety in nuance.
